About European Sleeper
European Sleeper is a community-owned Dutch-Belgian night train operator connecting major European cities overnight. Launched in May 2023, the cooperative has carried over 240,000 passengers on more than 750 trains, offering an affordable and sustainable alternative to short-haul flights. The fleet uses renovated 1990s German-built carriages updated to modern standards β vintage charm meets practical comfort.
Three routes form the growing network: the original BrusselsβAmsterdamβBerlinβPrague service (The Good Night Train), the ParisβBrusselsβBerlin route launched in March 2026, and the BrusselsβCologneβBernβMilan service launching September 2026 via the scenic Simplon route through the Swiss Alps. Each route operates three times per week in each direction.
Four accommodation classes range from Budget seats to private Comfort Plus sleeping compartments with washbasin, welcome drink, and breakfast included. Women-only compartments are available in Classic and Comfort classes. Bicycles, dogs, and cats can travel on board with advance booking. Interrail and Eurail Global Passes are accepted with a reservation supplement.
European Sleeper tickets are available on EuroTrain alongside other operators serving the same routes, making it easy to compare night train fares with daytime alternatives like ICE or Thalys for the same city pairs.

Booking Tips
How to Search on EuroTrain
Search city pairs like Brussels β Berlin, Amsterdam β Prague, or Paris β Berlin on EuroTrain to find European Sleeper departures. Night trains appear alongside daytime options β look for evening departures with next-morning arrivals. European Sleeper trains run 3 times per week on each route.
Save a Hotel Night
European Sleeper departs in the evening and arrives the next morning. You save the cost of a hotel night and a full day of travel. Board the train, settle into your compartment, and wake up in a new city ready to explore.
Greener Than Flying
A night train from Amsterdam to Berlin produces approximately 13.9 kg of CO2 per passenger, compared to 174.1 kg by plane β a reduction of over 90%. You also arrive in the city centre, not at a remote airport.
Affordable Night Travel
Fares vary by route, date, and class. Classic shared couchettes typically start from under β¬50 on shorter routes and under β¬80 on longer routes. Book early for the best availability. Check current fares by searching your route on EuroTrain.
Interrail & Eurail Pass Holders
Interrail and Eurail Global Passes are valid on all European Sleeper trains. You still need a reservation: Budget class β¬11ββ¬21, Classic β¬42ββ¬74, Comfort β¬89ββ¬179. Prices are fixed year-round and the same for adults and children β only travel distance affects the price.
Women-Only Compartments
Solo female travellers or groups of women can book women-only compartments in Classic and Comfort classes. Select the women-only option during booking to be placed in a compartment reserved exclusively for female passengers.
Travel with Pets
Dogs and cats are welcome on board β book a private compartment and add your pet for β¬29.99. The fee covers additional cleaning of the compartment. Guide dogs for visually impaired passengers and people with reduced mobility travel on all trains.
Children Under 3 Travel Free
Children aged 3 and under travel free of charge if they do not occupy their own bed or seat. If you want your child to have their own bed/seat, book the child fare. Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by someone aged 18 or older.
